Pearl is a kind of organic gemstone. From the perspective of polishing principle, pearl is different from other gemstones. The polishing process of other gemstones, such as diamonds and jade, is a grinding process, which is mechanical action (grinding), chemical action (formation of surface plastic layer or melting layer and molecular layer reflow) and physicochemical action (polishing agent) , Water and the physicochemical reaction between the surface material of the gemstone).
Pearl polishing is a process of grinding and filling. On the one hand, the polishing carrier can grind the unevenness of the pearl surface to make the pearl surface smoother; on the other hand, the bright substance (that is, wax) is added to the tiny pores and surface defects of the pearl surface, so that light can spread on the pearl surface The time remains continuous, thereby increasing the reflective intensity of the pearl surface. With the continuous development of society, traditional pearl polishing can no longer meet the needs. Therefore, a medium temperature pearl polishing method with good polishing effect and high work efficiency is needed.
The following is a simple method of polishing pearls.
1. After the pearls are harvested, wash them with clean water, and then soak them in saturated salt water for 5 to 10 minutes.
2. Put the pearl on the soft leather soaked in turpentine and polish it with diatomaceous earth powder.
3. After removing it, wipe off the body fluids and dirt on the bead with a soft cloth, put it in a mixture of 2 parts of salt and 8 parts of sawdust, and knead to remove the treasure.
4. Wash with clean water, remove it, put it in 0.15% ~ 0.2% sodium lauryl sulfate solution, and gently stir for 3 minutes to 5 minutes.
5. After 12 hours, put it in the same concentration of sodium lauryl sulfate solution and stir for 3 to 5 minutes; after rinsing with clean water, wipe it with a flannel or a soft towel or silk cloth, and dry it as commercial beads.
